That’s awesome! However, since Facebook is constantly updating and changing their system the link that may work for your page now may not work next week. So what you need to do is make a unique url* for your profile or your business’ page. Advantages to having a unique url are that people can type a much shorter address in order to find you and you can claim your business or organization’s name so no one else uses it.

*URL stands for Uniform (or universal) resource locator. Its the address of a World Wide Web page.

There’s some stuff to think about:

A great article was published on pcworld.com, but here’s what you really need to know:

1. Facebook’s usernames will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.
2. Once you pick a name, it’s yours for life.
3. You don’t necessarily have to use your real name.
4. You won’t be able to get a ‘generic word’ as your username, they’re already taken.
5. You’ll have to use at least five characters.
6. If you created your Facebook account after 3 p.m. on June 9, you won’t be able to get a username yet.
7. The restrictions are even greater for Facebook Pages (public profiles).
8. Facebook does plan to protect trademarks.
9. Your current privacy settings will apply to your new URL.
10. Your Facebook username may be used for more things in the future.

Get a unique url for your facebook page

Once you’re ready, you’ll want to login to your facebook account. In order to do this, its important to note that you must be an admin for the page you’re wanting to make a unique url for. You can learn more about that in a different post found here.

1. Login to your facebook account (or the account that is already an admin for the page you’re wanting to make a unique url for).
2. Go to www.facebook.com/username/
3. At the bottom of the page click the link to set a user name for your pages
4. Choose the page for which you want to set the username
5. Click check availability.
6. If the username you’ve choosen is available you’re almost done. If not, you’ll want to check other names, maybe try using numbers or underscores ( _ ) in the name to find a combination that works for you.
7. Just agree to their terms and you’re done!

There is always a possibility of me staying an extra eight weeks next summer, since Clayton has to finish one last class to get his degree. Maybe I could do that…but that wasn’t in the plan either. I was supposed to go ahead of him and either start in a position I find in the spring or be an avid job hunter! 

It was really nice to know that the housing staff is loving my work though! It feels really good to know everyone is impressed by my design work-especially since it doesn’t seem like I work that hard or even do that much. Maybe I can just convince everyone to write some killer recommendations for me! Because seriously-I don’t think they could afford what it would take to keep me here…

I gotta go…’cause if I don’t …I’ll regret not knowing what I could’ve done with my life.

But, knowing I could have a job here is tempting…

I think it has to do with school nearing again-hopefully for the last time for a long time! It was drilled into my yearly routine many a year ago to go back-to-school shopping for clothes, pencils, pens, notebooks-you name it. Now, I know it’s mostly a scam to get kids to bug their parents every year for new stuff…

If only I won the lottery…then maybe I could buy some of this stuff!
